Meet Your Instructor

Ollie Rieger

I’m a professional bassist and bass instructor with over 10 years of experience on the instrument.

I’ve spent the last decade studying bass technique, music theory, groove, and fretboard mastery across multiple styles, and translating that knowledge into clear, structured lessons.

My teaching is methodical and music-focused, designed to build strong fundamentals, technical control, and real musical understanding.

  • I have been playing the bass in various settings, ranging from local bands to the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. I have performed at school recitals, garage shows, and Carnegie Hall.

I specialize in fingerstyle bass playing and writing basslines across various genres of music. I am passionate about using music theory to unlock the fretboard and gain a deeper understanding of the bass.

  • I’m passionate about teaching beginners how to play real music and develop solid technique, feel, and groove using songs they love across all genres, and helping intermediate players develop a deeper relationship with the instrument.

For intermediate players, we connect theory to the fretboard, refine technique, and strengthen your groove so you can play with confidence and purpose as well as write your own basslines.

  • What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. I teach bass online and share bass content on social media, reaching hundreds of thousands of viewers.

This experience has shaped a teaching style that’s clear, concise, and focused on explaining complex ideas in a way that actually sticks, using feedback from my fanbase to get constant feedback on what concepts students struggle with most.
